How to Enjoy the Maldives as a Solo Traveller Things you can do!

The Maldives has a reputation for being a place to relax and do nothing. Simply unwind in your overwater villa and lounge on the beach. Nothing could be more incorrect. There are always lots to do here, and the best part is most activities don't really require a companion! Here is how to enjoy the Maldives as a solo traveller.

First, pick your islands wisely

The resort is increasingly remote the farther it gets from Malé. Which may be both a positive and a drawback depending on your tastes and budget. The Maldives has approximately 1000 islands, each with its own resort. But, regardless of where you stay, there are plenty of activities for a solitary traveller.

Snorkelling & Diving

The Maldives has a lot to offer in terms of underwater attractions. From little fish and blacktip sharks (which aren't dangerous to people) to whale sharks and enormous manta rays. There's something for everyone! The reef is always just a few minutes' walk from the beach. It's incredible to see such incredible marine creatures swimming so close to you. Most Maldives 5 star hotels the likes of Adaaran Prestige Vadoo offer snorkelling and scuba diving excursions that you can check out.

Surfing

The tranquil seas of the Maldives aren't often associated with surfing. Novice and intermediate surfers will like the waves, which are approximately the perfect size (3′ – 6′). The summertime, which starts from June to August, is likely to have the largest waves.

Spa Treatments

You will not need the company of another person to enjoy the turquoise waves and beaches while receiving a massage to relax and nourish your body. Today, almost all resorts have spa services. You have the option to try basic therapies or customised therapies. It's all up to you!

Observing Marine Life

You can sit around the coastal line and watch marine life for hours. It's very addicting, for sure! Manta rays can also be seen along the coast at most resorts. With their powerless fangs, they're both entirely harmless, so if you dare, you may jump in with them. There are also sunset dolphin excursions you can relish. You are bound to see a large bunch of dolphins hanging around near your boat!

Interacting with the People Around You

As enjoyable as an overwater villa resort experience might be, it must not preclude you from connecting with locals. You must visit a few nearby islands and learn about Maldivian culture. The streets are bustling with residents who are always willing to show you around. Getting away from the tourist traps will be undoubtedly one of the most rewarding experiences. You will generally get to engage with locals more when travelling alone than when you travel with your travel buddies regardless of the place. When you are on your own, you will find that locals approach you more easily, and it's never difficult to ask them a few things about their everyday lives.

Observing the stars

Some resorts feature massive telescopes for viewing the sky. While the majority of the crowd is generally most interested in viewing the moon, the local astronomer will albeit be available to show everyone various stars.

Simply having a good time!

Let's not forget to relax and enjoy your stay in paradise by letting your hair down. You will have a great day eating the most sumptuous fresh cuisine and floating about on your unicorn in the pool. The Maldives is a destination that offers a lot of ‘me time', especially when you travel solo. So, make sure you take advantage of every opportunity given to you to make the most of it! You are bound to have an incredible holiday, albeit being solo!
