 Drink water frequently

For each alcoholic drink, drink a full glass of water to keep your blood alcohol levels under control. It will also prevent or lessen any unpleasant side effects that you might experience during a hangover. If you know you are going to be drinking at night, make sure to eat healthy portions of food, and drink plenty of water and other fluids throughout the day. Also, make it a point to sleep well the day before. Eat a small snack and have a liquid before heading out, putting alcohol on an empty stomach is a recipe for a disaster.

Know your limits and be disciplined about it!

It is very important to know just how much your body can tolerate alcohol and stick to your safe limit under any circumstances. Alcohol contains chemicals that can cause rapid deoxidization, the freer radicals in the body, the more harm it does to you. Free radicals harm blood vessels, cause plaque to form in the blood arteries, organ damage, brain cell damage, brittle bones, heart attacks and accelerate the ageing process. However, all of this depends on the quantity and the frequency in which one consumes. Our bodies will naturally eliminate all the toxins produced by alcoholic substances via the liver, however, even that won't last forever if we keep taxing the system.

Have someone who doesn’t drink with you

Having a sober or teetotaler friend or trusted family member while out drinking is a smart idea. That way there is someone you can count on, to keep you in check, sort out transport and in case of an emergency. Overconsumption of alcohol can severely disable our cognitive functions and decision-making capabilities. We might end up doing risky or stupid things, which we wouldn’t dream of doing while sober. Having someone who can rationally assess the situation might save you from a lot of trouble. However, finding a willing companion who doesn’t drink to hang out with those that do is another matter.

 Purchase small quantities

For example, at a Latin restaurant in Dubai, you can order by the glass, rather than ordering bottles of wine and whiskey. In many of the bars such as Monkey Bar Dubai, this won’t be an issue. And if confronted with peer-pressured or otherwise, say you are watching out for your servings this time around and be confident about it! Portion control is what is important and this way it will control the amount of alcohol that gets absorbed into the bloodstream. Too much in one go can cause sudden intoxication, which might be fun, for a few moments but the side effects won’t be pleasant. Always have food along with your drink and a glass of water by the side to minimize any nasty side effects.

 Avoid alcohol

Avoid alcohol at all costs if you are under severe stress or depression, underage, and taking prescription drugs that may react with alcoholic substances. The latter can cause life-threatening complications, while depression can cause people to make irresponsible decisions, suicidal thoughts, and thoughts of harming to name a few. All such actions can cause lasting outcomes, that one may end up regretting later. Avoid the temptation to drown your sorrows over drinks, and get practical, medical and spiritual guidance to sort out the problems in life.
